Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries have a number of remarkable performance characteristics due to their unique chemical composition and structure. The following is an analysis of the main unique characteristics of Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries:

1. High safety

The positive electrode material of lithium iron phosphate batteries, lithium iron phosphate, has high chemical stability, and the P-O bond in its crystal is stable and difficult to decompose. Even under extreme conditions such as high temperature, overcharge, short circuit, puncture, collision and extrusion, there will be no serious thermal runaway. Compared with other types of lithium batteries, such as ternary lithium batteries, it is safer.

2. Long cycle life

The cycle life of lithium iron phosphate batteries is usually long, generally up to more than 2000 times, and some excellent products can even reach more than 3500 times. This means that under normal use conditions, the service life of lithium iron phosphate batteries can be as long as several years, which is much higher than the cycle life of ordinary lead acid batteries.

3. Stable Temperature Characteristics

Lithium iron phosphate batteries perform relatively well in high temperature environments, with a thermal peak value of 350℃ to 500℃ and a wide operating temperature range, generally -20℃ to 75℃. This allows lithium iron phosphate batteries to maintain good performance in high or low temperature environments.

4. Low Cost

Compared with other types of lithium batteries, such as ternary lithium batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries have a lower production cost. Its raw materials do not contain scarce and expensive metal elements such as cobalt, so it has an advantage in raw material cost.

5. No Memory Effect

Lithium-iron-phosphate batteries have no memory effect, that is, no matter what state the battery is in, it can be charged and used at any time without discharging and recharging, which is more convenient to use.

6. Green and Environmentally Friendly

Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries do not contain heavy metals and rare metals (nickel-hydrogen batteries require rare metals), are non-toxic (certified by SGS), pollution-free, and comply with European RoHS regulations. They are green and environmentally friendly batteries.

7. Energy Density and Weight

The energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries is generally between 100-160Wh/kg. Although it is lower than the energy density of ternary lithium batteries of 150-250Wh/kg, the volume of lithium iron phosphate batteries with the same specifications and capacity is 2/3 of the volume of lead-acid batteries, and the weight is 1/3 of that of lead-acid batteries. Therefore, lithium iron phosphate batteries still have advantages in some cases where weight and volume are required.

8. High temperature resistance and overcharge resistance

Lithium iron phosphate batteries have high high temperature resistance and overcharge resistance, which makes them have wide application prospects in some occasions with high battery performance requirements, such as electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
