Battery Safety Test Points

1. The battery cell is charged in accordance with the 1C standard, and the peak acceleration of the battery cell is 50 gn, a half-sine shock with a pulse duration of 11 milliseconds. The cell is subjected to 6 shocks in each of three perpendicular directions.

2. Vibration test No leakage The cell is fully charged according to 1C standard and the cell is vibrated using a sine wave. The logarithmic sweep frequency is in the range of 7 Hz to 200 Hz, and the time span is 15 minutes.

3. Over-discharge test The cell does not explode or catch fire. The cell is fully charged according to 1C standard and discharged at 1.0C constant current for 90 minutes.

4. Overcharge Test No explosion, no fire. The battery is fully charged to 1C standard and overcharged at 1.0C current until SOC reaches 200% or cell voltage reaches 1.5 times the upper limit voltage of the battery, whichever comes first.

5. External short circuit test There is no explosion or fire. The battery is fully charged according to the 1C standard and the total resistance of the positive and negative terminals is less than 5 mΩ for 10 minutes.

6. Hot Box Test The battery fails to explode or catch fire. The battery is fully charged according to the 1C standard. The battery is heated in an oven at a heating rate of 5°C/min. After the temperature reaches 130°C, it is held for 30 minutes.

7. Squeeze test There is no explosion or fire. The battery is fully charged according to the 1C standard. A semi-cylinder with a radius of 75mm is used to apply pressure perpendicular to the direction of the battery at a rate of 5±1mm/sec. When the displacement exceeds 30% of the battery thickness, or when the pressure reaches 200 KN, or when the cell voltage reaches 0 V, the test should be terminated.
